Lenten Schedule for 2010
Ash Wednesday, February 17, 2010 begins the season of Lent. Masses will be celebrated at 7:30 & 9:00 a.m., 12:00 noon & 6:30 & 8:30 p.m. Ashes will be distributed at all Masses.
On Ash Wednesday, everyone over 14 years of age is bound to observe the law of abstinence, (no meat). Abstinence is to be observed on all Fridays within the season of Lent. On Ash Wednesday & Good Friday, everyone 18 & up to the beginning of their 60th year is also bound to observe the law of fast. On these two days only one full meatless meal is allowed. Two other meatless meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to each one’s needs; but together they should not equal another full meal. Ash Wednesday & Good Friday, therefore, are the only days of both fast and abstinence.
Soup Supper
Every Friday during Lent, except for Good Friday, different organizations of the parish will sponsor a Soup Kitchen in the cafeteria from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Join us for a sacrificial meal of homemade soups & sandwiches for a small donation, which will be used to assist individuals needing financial assistance in our area followed by Stations of the Cross.
