Exciting New 2 Minute Video Series Helps to Build Virtue
Tune in to 2minutes2virtue: the weekly challenge. Fr. Bjorn Lundberg will host the January series of 2 minute videos created to help Catholics on the go to get the most out of Sunday readings. Stitches of Compassion
We provide handmade items, made with love and a prayer in each stitch, to bring comfort and warmth to those in need. Not only do we share patterns, but we encourage others to knit, crochet and/or sew.
- Preemie/baby hats
- Lap robes, prayer shawls, bereavement shawls are provided to persons in need of a warm, calming embrace
- Baby items are sent to nurture the newborns and their young mothers
- Hats and scarves and mittens for warmth
- Pillowcases to brighten the rooms of those in need of a smile.
Theology on Tap
Join us for Fellowship, Food and Drinks on Monday, April 24th starting at 6 PM at the Adventure Brewing South, 3300 Dill Smith Dr. Fredericksburg, VA 22408. Guess speaker Daniel M. Garland, Jr. will touch on the topic Bread of Life: The Eucharist in the Gospel of John.
International Fall Festival (IFF)

Plans for the 2017 International Fall Festival are under way and we need you!! Volunteers are needed in many areas. Join us for our next IFF meeting Tuesday, April 25, 2017 in the Brent Room at 7:15 PM.
Baptismal Preparation Class
The next Baptismal Preparation Class in English will be held on Wednesday, April 26nd at 7:30 PM in the Library. The next Baptismal Preparation Class in Spanish will be held on Saturday, May 20th at 8:30 AM in the Brent Room. It is mandatory that all parents register with the parish office (659-1102) before the class.
Vacation Bible School - Registration is underway!
- Who can attend? Any child who is a rising Kindergartener through 6th grader
- When is it? July 31 - August 4, 2017, 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM
- What’s the theme? “Cool Kingdom Party: Mary Leads Me Closer to Jesus”
- What does it cost? $25 per child
- When and how can I register? April 9 – June 30; either by stopping by the Religious Education office in person to fill out the forms or by printing them off our website, http://www.swoycc.org/Re_K_12.htm and mailing them in with the registration fee.
Walk/ Run for Life
Choices Women’s Center would like to invite you to participate in this year’s Walk/Run for Life on May 6th. The Walk/Run for Life is an exciting annual event that is family friendly and full of fun! In the weeks leading up to the Walk, walkers/runners find sponsors to support their efforts on the day of the walk. The walk will follow the Heritage Trail in Old Mill Park in Fredericksburg and come back to the pavilion for food and prizes. Registration starts at 8:30; Walk begins at 9:00. Our center provides pregnancy tests and ultrasounds to women who are facing unplanned pregnancies and providing counseling and education regarding all of the lifegiving options that she has—FREE OF CHARGE. We have spiritual discussions with all of our clients and many choose to hear the complete Gospel. What a privilege to lead a broken life to the saving grace of our Christ!
Stitches of Compassion
Stitches of Compassion would like to thank everyone who has donated yarn or fabric to this wonderful cause. We have been able to create beautiful items for those in need of warmth or comfort of all ages from infant through elderly. Thank you so very much and God bless you. Luncheons for the Young at Heart
I would like to thank everyone that volunteered their time and smiles to help make for a very festive luncheon. We want to thank the 3 wonderful 8th grade students that lead us in prayer for those lives lost at Pearl Harbor on the 75th anniversary. Our silent auction raised $300 for the debt reduction job well done. The dates for future luncheons are May 10 & June 7. The luncheons are held in the school gym. On Feb 8th we will be holding our Valentine brunch. Join us for delicious food, and great conversation catching up with fellow parishioners, relaxing and having fun. Admission to get in is $5 per person or an entrée, side dish or desert enough for 6 to 8 people. Have a Merry Christmas and we look forward to seeing everyone in 2017. WorkCamp 2017 Stakeholder Needed: Think. Pray. Commit.
WorkCamp 2017 will be June 24–30 at Massaponax High School. Many volunteer opportunities abound! One such opportunity is the Stakeholder. Once we have a Stake-holder, the teens can sign up to go to WorkCamp! Prayerfully think about helping in this way … which turns out to be HELP in a BIG WAY! Camp Veritas is a oneweek play and pray sleep away summer camp for teens going into 7th to 12th grades. It will be held at three USA locations in 2017; July 16-22 at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, NY, July 23-29 at Summit Lake Camp in Emmitsburg, MD and August 13-19 at Camp Lakota in Wurtsboro, NY. Enrollment opens 1/1/17 and the enrollment price for each week is $450 per camper. Early bird rates (if paid in full by 4/1/17) are $400 for all sites. There is no additional charge for the dance and basketball program options (at Mount Saint Mary College only). Volunteers (Must be over 18 years old) are needed and free! An Hour a Day ~ An Hour a Week
Parishioners of Saint William of York are challenged to lift their hearts and minds in prayer to The Lord for at least one hour a day. We also are asked to donate at least the equivalent of one hour’s wages per household to the regular offertory collection each week.
WorkCamp2017, June 24 – 30: Aren’t you coming?
All Rising 10th – 12th graders in 2017 are invited to come to WorkCamp2017. Come and meet other teens from across the diocese, help out those in need and enjoy sharing your faith. Adults are needed to help facilitate this adventure! Our first parish meeting for anyone interested will be held in January … stay tuned for that date! Adoption Information Meetings
Catholic Charities holds monthly Adoption Information meetings for anyone interested in learning more about how to expand their family through adoption. The meetings are free of charge and are held at the Burke office, 5294 Lyngate Court, Burke, Va. 22015. The presentation will cover Catholic Charities’ domestic, international, interstate, and parental placement adoption programs. Please call to register, as space is limited by calling (703) 425-0100.
